What Makes Our Course Different?

It Works!

Our students are outlearning those in other programs because we have redefined the way music theory is taught. We introduced a simple but revolutionary idea: all aspects of music, including all terms and topics, can be distilled into one Unified Concept—music is the interplay of consonance and dissonance.

Why is this revolutionary? Because understanding this concept is all you need to easily comprehend every aspect of music. It’s the hidden link that connects everything!

Students can easily see how various elements of music, such as scales, melody, and harmony, are interconnected. These elements are not separate topics with their own rules; they are all expressions of the fundamental relationship between consonance and dissonance.

In simple terms, this means that every beautiful melody, captivating chord progression, and music element is a dance between tension and release.  Once you understand this idea, the complexities of music theory start to make perfect sense. It's like turning on a lightbulb in a dark room—you clearly see how all the pieces connect.

Students from around the world report experiencing an “Aha!” moment when they grasp this concept, which they say “simplifies the learning process, increasing the pace and ease of their music studies while reducing stress and confusion."

Some Of What You'll Learn-

In just the first course, you will learn material that typically takes years to cover, saving time and money while ensuring you understand the 'how' and 'why' behind each concept. But more importantly, you'll begin to cultivate the skills needed to improvise and compose your music!

The Unifying Concept and the Architecture of Music:

In this module, we'll define the Unifying Concept. Then, build a musical example illustrating the 'simple blueprint' used to create all music. This will make clear that all music consists of layers of elements like notes, volume, and tempo, assembled and varied like building blocks and each variation will evoke a different feeling, mood, or emotion, which is the sole purpose of music.

By the end of this module, you will have an organized overview of how all music is created. Furthermore, you'll learn how to practice using a method based on experimentation—this is how master musicians have practiced for centuries—making practice fun, rewarding, and something you look forward to.

From here, each module flows naturally, systematically, and logically; you can take what you learn and apply it directly to the next module.

The Basic Principles of Sound and Mixtures/Intervals:

How to vary music elements such as notes, volume, and tempo is easy and intuitive. However, many musical elements involve multiple notes mixing. Each Mixture, known as an Interval in music, can evoke a different feeling, mood, or emotion. To understand how and why, we must learn some Basic Sound Principles.

This module provides a brief but solid introduction to sound, sound waves, frequencies, and octaves. Additionally, you will discover that there are 13 different Mixtures/Intervals, which serve as the building blocks for every music element that has notes mixing, such as scales, melodies, and harmony sections.

After this section, you'll understand how and why each Mixture/Interval can evoke different feelings, moods, or emotions. Additionally, you will learn how to create the 13 Mixtures/Intervals anywhere on the piano.

Scales/Modes:

Instead of using 1 or all 13 Intervals to create music, composers create subsets called Scales/Modes.

In this module, we will use the Principles of Sound and Intervals to understand and create Scales/Modes.

By the end of this module, you'll understand how and why every Scale/Mode evokes different feelings, moods, and emotions and you'll know how to create any Scale/Mode anywhere on the piano.

Melody and Rhythm

Since not all songs have lyrics, it is best to think of melody as a sequence of Intervals.

In this module, we will use the Principles of Sound, Intervals, and Scales to understand and create Melodies.

By the end of this module, you will acquire the skills needed to understand, construct, and play Melodies. Furthermore, you'll gain the skills to vary the feeling, mood, or emotion of any Melody by altering its Rhythm.

Harmony Section, Chords:

In this module, we will use the Principles of Sound, Intervals, Scales, and Melody to understand and create Harmony Sections.

At the end of this module, you will understand how to create a Harmony Section to enrich, embellish, or accompany any Melody. Furthermore, you will acquire the skills to develop and vary chords in multiple ways.

The Circle of Fifths:

There are an infinite number of frequencies in the universe. Our music alphabet uses 12. In this module, you will learn how and why. Knowing where the notes of the music alphabet come from is not only cool, but also super beneficial to your overall growth as a musician.

After this module, you can apply this knowledge to quickly understand musical elements you will learn in the future, such as chord progressions, cadences, and form.

About the Author

Hello, my name is Eric Fine.

I have always loved music and dreamed of playing it myself. Growing up, I was surrounded by friends who were musicians, which gave me a unique perspective on the music world. I had the opportunity to meet talented individuals signed to record labels, those on the verge of success, and even was on the film set of an MTV music video!

Through these experiences, I learned that a musician’s talent goes beyond just skill or knowledge; what truly matters is their connection to the music. I observed exceptional musicians whose performances felt disconnected, while beginners could captivate audiences with their heartfelt playing.

This inspired me to create a course that teaches music theory in a way that helps students connect with music and discover their own voice. While learning the basics of music theory is essential, my course is designed to make these concepts accessible and engaging. Instead of imposing strict rules, it focuses on fostering creativity and a genuine appreciation for the art of music.

With collaboration from musicians and students, this course was developed.

So, I ask- If understanding music could be more intuitive, less time-consuming, and enjoyable, what music goals could you achieve that you thought were out of reach?

Enjoy, Eric Fine.

The Cost of Not Making a Change

Learning to play an instrument can be quite challenging without a structured program. Here are some important points to consider:

Guidance is Essential: Without proper guidance, the learning process can take much longer and require more effort. Our structured course is proven to teach you months' worth of music theory in just a few weeks, potentially saving you thousands of dollars and countless hours.

Avoiding Overwhelm: Without proper support, you may feel overwhelmed, confused, and frustrated, which could lead to quitting.

Health Benefits of Learning Music: You'll miss out on the wide range of health benefits. It is well-documented that playing music is a valuable tool for overall well-being. It exercises your brain, boosts self-esteem, improves neural processing, reduces stress, and fosters social connections.

Learning and Development: Studies have shown that learning an instrument can enhance a child’s discipline, patience, and social skills and may even increase their IQ.

Most importantly, you won't experience what it feels like to play and create music, what it feels like to play something that others enjoy, or what it feels like to get applause or a standing ovation.

Music has the power to transcend reality and transport you to places you never knew existed. So, don’t let another day go by without following an organized learning path that will help you understand the language of music. It’s a small investment that will pay dividends for the rest of your life!
